Sonoma Compost (Organic) Dark, rich, premium quality compost made from recycled yard trimmings and vegetal food waste.
Sonoma Compost is recommended for applications that do not require high nitrogen content such as trees, shrubs, grape vines and natives.(Click picture to enlarge) Provides valuable organic matter to soil, making it easier to work and more productive. In sandy soil it increases moisture-holding capacity, making soil nutrients more available to plants. In heavy clay soils, porosity is increased which improves aeration in the root zone and overall drainage. Sonoma Compost provides a wealth of slow release nutrients and beneficial microbes to your soil and plants. It's screened to approximately <1/2". Sonoma Compost is lab tested, and listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) for use in organic production.
Organic HI-TEST Compost Sonoma Organic HI-TEST is great for new gardens and landscapes, especially where soils have been neglected or overworked. In addition to improving soil structure, our HI-TEST Compost will give new plants the nitrogen needed for a vibrant start. It's an excellent long-term soil conditioner for the heavy clay soils in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park and Petaluma and will add moisture-holding capacity to sandy West County soils. It’s screened to approximately <½”. Sonoma Organic HI-TEST is listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) for use in organic production.
Mallard Plus (Organic) We’re blending our Brown Rice with our Sonoma HI-TEST Compost. The nitrogen rich chicken feathers in the HI-TEST will make a noticeable difference in your garden’s performance. This premium quality amendment provides all the soil conditioning benefits of good compost, a higher nutrient content, and has a neat, uniform appearance. It's the perfect material for making heavy clay soils easier to work and more productive. Better yet, it’s light and easy to move around your garden or landscape. Mallard Plus is listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) for use in organic production.
Vineyard Mulch, Screened (Organic) Vineyard Mulch undergoes a brief composting process at over 131°F that renders it virtually free of weed seeds and plant pathogens. As it slowly breaks down, it provides the organic matter, nutrients and microbes that help plants thrive. Worms thrive in soils that have a generous layer of Vineyard Mulch. Their tunneling activities allow oxygen to get to plant roots and their castings provide a beneficial nutrient input. Fungi are prolific in mulches since they are working hard to break this material down. This fungal activity plays a crucial role in improving soil structure by aggregating the soil. Occasionally, during the wet season, these fungi make their presence known by producing fruiting bodies: mushrooms. This a natural occurance, inherent to decomposition. For those who do not appreciate those 'guests' can simple rake the mushrooms and they will disappear rapidly. Vineyard Mulch is ideal for the demanding needs of North Coast grape growers. It's particularly suited for use on steep, hillside vineyards and when properly applied will reduce soil loss from erosion by up to 95%. It's easily applied by hand or with a tractor pulled spreader. Vineyard Mulch is listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) for use in organic production.
Path Mulch Being made from recycled wood, even though we have an aggressive metal removal program, Path Mulch may contain an incidental number of nails. Recycled wood includes OSB and plywood. No pressure treated and painted wood is allowed. Please use in appropriate applications.
Feather-Lite Amended Soil (Organic) Sonoma Feather-Lite is a good looking blend of 50 % clean soil and 50% Mallard Mulch. You’ll find the high mineral content of the soil, and the rice hulls in the Mallard Mulch, make for a growing medium that will last longer and decompose less than materials comprised of all organic matter. The feather component in the Mallard Mulch provides the nitrogen boost to get plants and turf growing to your expectations. Sonoma Feather-Lite Amended Soil is listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) for use in organic production.
